Nicole and Shaun shared the story of how they got together with us on the drive to Saugatuck and it was so obvious that these two are crazy about each other. Nicole works at a local bank and she and Shaun told us how he would find excuses to go into the bank over and over again (even though it was usually to get cash and he does have an ATM card). Finally he got up the nerve to ask her out and here we are photographing their engagement session! We walked around downtown Saugatuck and then headed out towards Oval Beach. Shaun shared with us that his grandfather used to take him and the other grandkids to Mount Baldy and how special that was. We did a few photos at the foot of the very large, very steep staircase. Then we ended the night at the beach with a beautiful sunset. We had such a fun time and we hope you guys did too! We are really looking forward to working with you again soon. Now we just have to wait until November! To see more from Nicole and Shaun’s session go to Steve’s site.

Alysha and Brian’s Wedding ~ Saturday, June 14th, 2008
My good friend Tracy came down from Traverse City to photograph Alysha and Brian’s wedding with me. We had a great day. We got to the beautiful Eagle Eye Golf Course and didn’t have much time for photographs so we asked Alysha and Brian to come outside with us at sunset and got some beautiful photographs of the two of them. We got some cute photos of the flower girl and ring bearer too.
Funny story…Tracy infomed me about halfway through dinner that I had a tear in my skirt. Of course since she didn’t make a big deal of it I assumed it was a tiny hole and didn’t worry about it. Upon inspection however it was a pretty large tear right on the behind. Yup. Fortunatly my skirt was pretty loose and it didn’t really show. So as we are leaving I get in the car and hear the RRRRRRRRIP! Thank goodness it was after the reception. Then we stop to get gas on the way home. I had turned the skirt so the tear was on the side and when we got back in the car I hear another RRRRRRRRRIP. So now I’ve got two huge wholes in my skirt and to top things off, Tracy’s car won’t start! Fortunatly we are only about a mile from home. Steve had to come rescue us. Thus ended our crazy night! Alysha and Brian – I hope you guys had a GREAT night!

Heather and Derik’s wonderful wedding Windmill Island Holland Mi
We had the best time working with Heather and Derik and the most beautiful day (other than the rain that threatened all afternoon). Derik’s sister did Heather’s makeup and it was fantastic! Then we did a mini-bridal session at the hotel and got some amazing images. Next we took Heather out to the Holland State Park to see Derik for the first time on their wedding day. (Be sure to check out our “Bridezilla shot below on Steve’s Blog.) We had so much fun playing around and getting great photographs of the two of them. The ceremony and reception took place at Windmill Island in downtown Holland. The gazebo and ceremony site were perfectly decorated. Via Maria catered and as always it was absolutely fabulous. We both went back for seconds! Heather and Derik ended the night with lots of dancing and a quick sneak out to do some final photographs at sunset. Thanks so much guys for the best day!

I had two weddings on the East side of the state this weekend and had the pleasure of working with Holly and Bryce on Friday afternoon. I met up with the girls at Holly’s house where we did photographs in her parent’s front lawn. Then we went into Rochester and got some urban photographs. All of this was followed by a beautiful ceremony and a fabulous reception at Petruzello’s. Thanks so much Holly and Bryce – it was a wonderful day!

Tonya and Dan’s Engagement Session in Grand Haven
I was looking forward to photographing Tonya and Dan’s wedding in September on the beach but after this session I can’t wait to work with them again. We met in downtown Grand Haven and spend the evening walking around town and ended at the beach. Just as we were getting to the beach the dark clouds rolled in. We managed to get some great shots before it really started sprinkling and we made a dash back to the van.

Lisa and Keith’s Wedding ~ May 24th, 2008
Steve and I met Lisa and Keith at church and were so happy that they decided to include us in their wedding day. It’s funny because I know couples probably don’t think about it that way but we are there ALL day and even if we are just observing and documenting we are there for everything and we feel that we are a part of the day. This is one of the things we love about photographing weddings.
Lisa and Keith have been together for 6-1/2 years and their families were so excited for them to finally become husband and wife. The difficult thing for everyone is that Lisa and Keith will only be in Michigan for another month before they move to Texas and while everyone wants the best for them nobody (including us) wants to see them go!
Even with some bittersweet moments Lisa and Keith’s wedding day was beautiful and sweet. We wish you guys the best as you start your life together!
