  • Rachel and Mauricio’s Wedding ~ Friday, September 12th, 2008

We met Rachel just over a year ago, right around the time that September’s Bride opened it’s doors and began doing a fantastic job of serving brides in Holland.  After talking with Rachel at bridal shows and at the store we were so excited to hear that she was hoping to get married soon.  When Mauricio proposed to her (it was a great surprise) Rachel’s family was on hand to celebrate.  Needless to say, we were super excited that they chose us to photograph their wedding day.

The ceremony and reception were held at one of our favorite local venues – Windmill Island.  The weather was a bit iffy but we managed to get all of the photographs done before the ceremony and the weather held the rest of the evening.  The decorations were so creative and unique and with all of the beautiful landscaping at the Island it was a perfect backdrop for Rachel and Mauricio’s day.

Some of the highlights of the day were Mauricio’s family coming from Mexico for the wedding and his brother as best man and Rachel surprising Mauricio by singing to him before their vows.

Rachel and Mauricio, we hope that you both enjoyed every moment of your wedding day, from getting ready at September’s Bride to riding the carousel at Windmill Island to your last goodbyes.  We wish you a blessed marriage.

  • Jennifer and Joe’s Wedding and Day After Session – September 6th and 7th, 2008

Jennifer and Joe got married at the always fabulous Frog Pond Village near Traverse City.  We were so excited to work with Jennifer and Joe after getting to know then and also excited because we love photographing at Frog Pond.  We were also excited because we had plans to photograph a day after session up along the Mission Penninsula with Joe’s convertible Lincoln Continental.

We met up with Jen and Joe at the rehearsal on Friday night.  The food was excellent and it was great to get to know their friends and family a bit before the wedding.  Joe gave Jen a beautiful pair of diamond earrings that she had pointed out to him and Jen gave Joe a photograph of her holding a 5ft. Texaco sign (just like the one his grandfather had) since it was too large to bring the actual sign.  She and her mom drove to Canada to purchase the sign for Joe and had quite an adventure.

While the wedding day was beautiful we enjoyed the day after session so much!  It’s so nice having time to spend getting amazing portraits of the bride and groom without the pressure of time constraints.  We spent some time outside of the Chateau Chantel and purchased a few bottles of excellent wine.  We had some pretty funny things happen throughout the day but instead of going into detail I will just say that I got to see a tatoo that I had not seen previously…

Jennifer and Joe – we hope you know what a wonderful time we had getting to know you and working with you.  We wish you all the best and are looking forward to seeing you soon!

  • Colleen and David’s Wedding – Saturday, August 30th, 2008

We met with Colleen and David last winter and liked them immediatly.  We were excited that they chose us to photograph their wedding and invited them to the studio to do a quick engagement session so they would have something to use right away.  Colleen called Steve in January crying on the phone.  David had just gotten called up for active duty and would be leaving for Afghanastan in just a couple of weeks.  They decided to get married before he left and hoped that he could get leave so that they could still have their August wedding.

Thankfully things worked out and David was able to come home and celebrate his marriage with a second wedding as they had planned from the beginning.  Thanks so much Colleen and David for allowing us to be a part of your beautiful wedding day.  We are praying for David’s safe return in February!
